Pupil Premium

Welcome to our section on Pupil Premium. Here you will find information about the Pupil Premium Grant.

The Pupil Premium Grant is additional funding provided from the government to help schools improve the educational outcomes of disadvantaged pupils. This grant is applicable from reception to Year 11.

This grant funding is based on the number of pupils in the following groups:

  • Pupils who are claiming, or have claimed, free school meals within the last 6 years (with the exception of those pupils now eligible as part of the newly introduced, expanded free school meals criteria).
  • Pupils who are looked after or who are previously looked after.

Service Pupil Premium (SSP)

  • Pupils who have parents/carers currently serving in the armed forces or are retired on a pension from the Ministry or Defence also receive some funding (the Service pupil premium is not based on disadvantage, but is to support with pastoral care).

The funding is used to provide a programme of interventions, with a specific focus to narrow the gaps in progress and attainment for disadvantaged pupils. The whole school aim is for pupils eligible for Pupil Premium Grant funding to perform better than non-Pupil Premium pupils nationally. The Senior Leadership team prioritise the support and tracking of Pupil Premium pupils and work across the school to champion their needs.
