Our careers programme is an integral part of our curriculum and has a real impact on our pupils’ long-term outcomes. We measure and assess this impact via student survey, monitoring event attendance and by regularly compiling event specific feedback from pupils, parents, employers, teachers and further education providers. We have good communication links with our local further education and training providers and keep in touch regarding pupil outcomes, providing support where we can.
Work Experience 2026
Choosing what to do after Year 11 is an important and exciting next step for young people and their families. Attending College Open Events is a great opportunity to explore the different options available and find out which pathway may be right for each individual.
Colleges and training providers offer a wide range of opportunities, from full-time courses and technical qualifications to apprenticeships and other routes into further study, training and employment. Open Events provide the opportunity to explore courses, meet tutors and training providers, look around facilities, ask questions and find out more about what each provider has to offer.
Whether you are a young person considering your next steps, or a parent or carer supporting them with their choices, attending an Open Event can help you make an informed decision about the future.
Year 10 Experience College Life at Selby College
Year 10 students recently took part in a College Experience Day at Selby College, where they tried out different subject taster sessions and got a real feel for what college life is like. The day helped pupils understand the opportunities available after leaving The Snaith School and supported them in thinking about their post-16 choices and life beyond school, while also helping students build their independence and confidence in a new environment.
National Apprenticeship Week and National Careers Week 2026
We celebrated National Apprenticeship Week and National Careers Week with a range of engaging assemblies and activities designed to raise awareness of future pathways and opportunities. As part of the celebrations, students across Year 8, 9 and 10 benefited from valuable sessions delivered by Selby College and York College. These provided insight into technical and vocational learning, as well as the wide range of study and career options available at post-16 and post-18.
Celotex Visit
A group of Year 7 pupils had an exciting and insightful visit to the Celotex manufacturing facility, offering them a unique opportunity to see how industry-leading insulation materials are designed, produced and tested.
